Expedient recently announced their expansion into the Columbus, Ohio market. The company is about to open its latest, state of the art data center active for customers by January 1, 2011. The new facility is located at 5000 Arlington Center in Upper Arlington and it will be the first Expedient data center in the Columbus area and the eighth data center the web host operates across 6 cities.
Company's data centers typically serve a mix of local and national companies, who choose to host their critical business computer systems and applications in secure, utility-redundant facilities.
The facility in Upper Arlington was used as an internal data center by the previous property owners, but Expedient will invest millions of dollars in market startup costs and improvements to the facility in order to meet the requirements of its customers. The new data center will feature 8,000 square feet of raised floor computing space, which will support the company’s growth model for several years.
The data center will have top tier features including; dual commercial power feeds, redundant generators, N+2 cooling systems, multi-carrier telecommunications infrastructure, multiple tiered security system, fire suppression system and a fully staffed, 24×7x365 Operations Support Center (OSC). Expedient has had a consistent pattern of strong growth over the years; the Columbus data center will be the third new facility the company has opened in as many years on top of several expansions to existing data centers. The other seven data centers are located in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis (dba nFrame), Boston and Baltimore (dba DataPoint).
